VE Day 80 Anniversary celebrations

On Thursday 8th May 2025, members of the Parish Council attended the VE Day 80 Anniversary Service which was held at the Memorial Gardens.
Following the service, the Cllrs then went to The Gild Hall where the Parish Council hosted an afternoon tea dance. DJ Dapper Dan played songs from the 1940’s, many of the guests got up to dance and sing along to the music on the dance floor. Formby Civic Society put came along with a lot of memorabilia and information boards from World War II for the guest to look at. The afternoon was enjoyed by all and special thanks go to the volunteers from Formby High School Sixth Form who served the guest tea and coffee and a selection of sandwiches and cakes. They were extremely polite, helpful and courteous to our guests and a credit to the school.
On Sunday 11th May, there was a Party in the Park at the Platinum Jubilee Park on Lonsdale Road. There were over 400 people in attendance who brought along picnics, blankets and chairs and enjoyed an afternoon of music from DJ Dapper Dan and performances from Formby Little Theatre, The Viking Skiffle Group and songs from Golden Age Songbird. Formby Civic Society brought along their memorabilia again for attendees to view.
